We gained valuable insights and guidance as Dr. Chien navigated us through this transformative phase of a woman’s life.

About the Presenter:
Angela Chien is an OB/GYN with over two decades of experience both as a physician and as a quality improvement leader in women’s health care in Washington state. She had a busy clinical practice at EvergreenHealth, providing the full scope of care to women for both obstetrical and gynecological issues, with emphasis on engaging the patient and focusing on the immigrant community. Since 2020, Dr. Chien has continued to provider inpatient obstetrical care at EvergreenHealth and Swedish Issaquah campus as well as virtual care to patients through Maven Clinic. She currently serves as the Medical Director of the Obstetrical Care Outcomes Assessment Program at the Foundation for Healthcare Quality in Seattle and is committed to using data to improve maternal outcomes. She is a clinical lead for the Washington State Maternal Mortality Review Panel in addition to working for various organizations providing peer review. She is a consultant for the TeamBirth project through Ariande Labs and the Harvard School of Public Health, having successfully led implementation of the project at EvergreenHealth in 2019. Through her work, she has seen that the combination of lack of health literacy and a challenging healthcare system result in patients not being heard. She believes that promoting patient advocacy in all settings will lead to better health outcomes.
